Key Skills

At Cromwell High School we place a high priority on pupils developing key, functional skills. Therefore we agree targets with parents at each pupil's Annual Review of Statement that then are woven throughout the curriculum. We set targets in the following areas:

  • Communication (face to face- including body language, facial expression and communication aids)
  • Communication (recorded- including recognising photos, symbols and/or objects of reference)
  • Thinking Skills (including solving simple problems such as cause and effect, finding hidden objects etc)
  • Working with others (socially effective behaviour including developing awareness and confidence with a range of other people)
  • Improving Own Learning (including focusing and attention span)
  • Independent Problem Solving (including mobility)
